Lonely Planet on Telstra 3G phones

Telstra has teamed up with Lonely Planet to provide a new service that allows 3G phones to connect to the Lonely Planet mobile site, providing travel content for travellers.

Lonely Planet provides access to its mobile site which hosts the ';What's Around Me?' feature. The ';What's Around Me? Feature enables users to find out what Lonely Planet's recommendations are for travel. 3G phones can access the Lonely Plant database through Telsta's BigPond portal to find out lists that covers points of interest in both well known areas and lesser known areas.

With 3G phones, uses can now find out about places of interest which may include:

  • Restaurants.
  • Hotels.
  • Shops.
  • Nightlife spots.
  • Sites to see.

While the Lonely Planet mobile site is being released to 3G phones first in Australia, it's not limited to places just in Australia. You can found out information about places around the world. These include:

  • Africa.
  • Asia.
  • Australia.
  • The Caribbean.
  • Central America.
  • Europe.
  • The Middle East.
  • North America
  • South America.
